The current oil prices are trading over $100 a barrell. Global unrest and uncertainty is fueling the rise in prices. We will continue to monitor the developements in the Middle East and Africa.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: large;"&gt;The Good News&lt;/span&gt;: March is here. This means&amp;nbsp;basketball, warm weather and home sales are the main events here in Kansas City. Rates on 30 year Fixed loans are&amp;nbsp;better than this time&amp;nbsp;last year and remain at historical lows. In addition, Fed Chairman ben Bernake spoke before the Senate Finance Committee. He was very clear that QE2 will not be pared back and we can expect the Fed Funds Rate to remain unchanged throughout this year. The fact that 4 months ago we saw some of the lowest interest rates ever tends to put everything in its shadows.&amp;nbsp; I purchased a home a year and a half a go and I had a "rock star rate" (that's the technical term) of 5.5%.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Think of Jamal Charles running next to&amp;nbsp;Usain Bolt...I bet he doesn't look as fast as he does when is breaking through a defensive line.&amp;nbsp; font-size: 10pt;"&gt;Yesterday’s over night average was 5.02%.&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;This steep increase in average interest rate has given some folks quite a scare(&lt;em&gt;what took 6 months of steady decrease only took 2 weeks to rise&lt;/em&gt;).&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;Some feel that this is the beginning of the end of low mortgage rates….But is it?&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;"&gt;Dr. Berson at PMI has put together some projections for 2011 and 2012.&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp; Back in January we were at or above&amp;nbsp;our current interest rates. We look to&amp;nbsp;start 2011 with favorable or comparable pricing across the industry. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Realtors have good reason to smile ----- FHA loans are still offering the 3.5 % down payment option. Combine this with historically low interest rates we should expect a solid opportunity for home buyers in 2011. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In addition to the FHA low down payment, Leader One continues to offer the USDA Rural Development loans and VA loans.
